This weekend, Italian racing team, Iron Lynx, successfully kickstarted its Ferrari Challenge (FC) and GT World Challenge Europe (GTWC) championships, with two victories for Doriane Pin in the Ferrari Challenge, and consistent points finishes from the Iron Lynx cars at Imola, building a strong foundation for the season ahead.

In Portimão, it was Iron Dame, Doriane Pin’s impressive performance that underlined her improvement over the winter with a much faster pace compared to her rivals, taking two pole positions and two victories in dominant fashion. Arno Dahlmayer recorded a consistent start to the season with strong eighth and fifth place finishes in the Am category.

In the Coppa Shell category, Claudio Schiavoni had a solid start to the season, securing important points with a tenth and eighth place finish.

Getting underway today was the ever-competitive GT World Challenge Europe championship, with Imola playing host to a three-hour race. The #51 Iron Lynx car with the Competizioni GT drivers James Calado, Nicklas Nielsen and Miguel Molina took a seventh-place finish, and the #71 car of Antonio Fuoco, Davide Rigon and Daniel Serra followed closely behind in eighth place to bring some valuable points for the team after a battling performance.

Despite showing good pace over the weekend and demonstrating their potential to fight for the top position in class, unfortunately the Iron Dames machine piloted by Sarah Bovy suffered a race-ending incident in the early laps of a race that was full of safety car interventions, a common feature with heavy traffic on the narrow Imola circuit.

Iron Lynx Team Principal, Andrea Piccini, said: “Overall we can be happy with the team’s positive performance across both GT World Challenge and Ferrari Challenge championships this weekend. We are extremely pleased with Doriane’s wins in Portimao, and it proves that we can fight for the title again this year.

“For the GT World Challenge race, which is one of the most competitive championships for GT cars around the world, we showed a good pace and scored some strong points in PRO class with the #51 and #71 cars. The incident at the start of the race for the Iron Dames was a pity, but the team still showed some fast times all weekend, qualifying fourth in class, so we are looking good for the rest of the season.”

The Ferrari Challenge Europe championship continues at Paul Ricard on the 14th of May, while the GT World Challenge Europe Championship’s next stop is at Paul Ricard on the 5th of June.
