Commitment to the motorsport - Paul Schön wins the Mini RMC Switzerland Championship 2022

As usual, the finale of the RMC Switzerland was held on the kart track in Wohlen. Changing weather conditions and technical problems caused some surprises.

Friday:
Paul was able to make good use of the practice sessions on Friday to get to know the Praga kart, which he will have to drive at the Rotax Grand Finals in Portimao in November. An added difficulty was that his team must only use the footage and settings that will be available to you at the Grand Finals.

Saturday - Qualifying:
Due to engine problems, Paul had to skip the warm-up. The troubleshooting robbed the time to adapt the kart to the track conditions. In the end, the engine at least started and he was able to tackle qualifying with a little delay. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for the sixth pole position. More than two tenths were missing from the best time, so Paul stayed in second place on the grid. Troubleshooting continued immediately after qualifying and finally a defective starter was identified. Valuable time was lost again by organizing another starter and changing him to make the necessary adjustments to the chassis.

Heat 1:
Paul overslept the start of the first heat and couldn't keep second place. He dropped back to third place after the first corner. The entire race, Paul had to struggle with his dry set-up on the wet track and was ultimately happy to have secured third place after twelve laps.

Heat 2:
Finally his chassis was adapted to the conditions as best as possible. From third place on the grid, Paul started the race on the now drying track. In these conditions, he was able to show a good performance on the slick tires he chose. The track conditions didn't allow for any overtaking manoeuvres, but he was able to convince, especially in comparison to the other drivers who also chose slick tires. Third place at the finish line.

Final:
Paul started the finale from third place when it started to rain again. In the third corner of lap one, Paul took the lead and tried to break away from his pursuers. However, he did not manage to build up a sufficient lead to finish the race without greater pressure from his pursuers. Towards the end of the race, tactical skill should also be important. His strategy worked and the attack planned by the pursuer in the last corner of the race failed. So Paul was the first to cross the finish line in the last race.

Congratulations on the current championship title and we hope for an exciting final race in Portimao.
