Appassionati della 296 GTB - Peter Schetty

Every passion has a story. On the social media channels of Niki Hasler AG, we are currently publishing a series called “Appassionati della 296 GTB/GTS”, in which we present the stories of various owners with their vehicles and give an insight into how they use and experience their cars.

Born and raised in Basel, Peter Schetty is not only a legendary Scuderia Ferrari works driver who dominated the 1969 European Hillclimb Championship with the Ferrari 212 E Montagna, but he also led Scuderia Ferrari as team principal in 1971 and 1972. Having owned various Ferraris over the years, the Ferrari 296 GTB in elegant Grigio Scuro is his current choice as an everyday car and as a track weapon.

Mr. Schetty told us enthusiastically, “For me, the most amazing thing about the Ferrari 296 GTB is the seamless interaction between the combustion engine and the electric motor. The car is an absolute pleasure to drive, easy to control and very comfortable. But when you press down on the gas pedal, the car becomes incredibly precise, maneuverable and elastic! I drive to and from the racetrack twice a year at the Niki Hasler AG Track Days. In just one year, I have already covered over 16,000 km with my 296 GTB. Even now in winter - I put on winter tires and drive it every day. The 296 GTB is the best sports car you can buy at the moment, without a doubt.”
